If you go to a fast food restaurant, you will probably see a lot of teenagers. Today, many teenagers are
overweight, and some of this is because of their bad eating habits. Most teenagers love food with a lot of
fat, oil, salt and sugar. People often call this kind of food "junk food".
But bad eating habits go beyond fast food. We find many teenagers eat unhealthily. Some don't have
breakfast before they go to school. During the day, some don't have a proper meal for lunch. In a recent

                                                        Edison-style light bulb and CFLs
    1. About 130 years ago, Thomas Edison of the USA invented the light bulb. Edison's bulb has turned night
into day ever since. But today, many want to turn the light off.
    2. The European Union recently decided that by 2009, people should stop using the Edison-style light bulb.
Instead, they should use compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs节能灯).
    3. "CFLs save energy and last longer. They can save money in the long run," said a British official. CFLs
use 67 percent less electricity than the older bulbs. They last up to times longer. Scientists say that if
everyone used CFLs, electrify use would be cut 18 percent. There would also be much smaller amounts
         of greenhouse gases given off.
    4. But it's difficult to make people change their lighting habits. First the CFLs are more expensive. They cost
eight times the price of the older bulbs. Many people don't like the CFL bulbs. They find it too bright. You
cannot change the light of a CFL, either.
    5. CFLs have been around for several years. However, the older lights still make up about two-thirds of total
        light bulb sales.
    A. When to stop to use CFLs
    B. Edison made the world bright
    C. The older style lights are still used widely
    D. The advantages of using CFLs
    E. The disadvantages of using CFLs.

Elephants are the largest living animals 1            land. More than 500 different kinds of elephants have
been found on earth during the 2            55 million years. Only two kinds are 3            alive today. The
African Elephant and the Asian (or Indian ) Elephant. These elephants can only be found in 4            places.
The older kinds, which lived a long time ago, lived in colder places. An 5            is the mammoths-the largest
hairy elephants. Mammoths were about the size of the largest living elephant, which is about seven 6           .
Unlike the elephants today, mammoths had 7           or dark brown hair covering their bodies. All the
mammoths had tusks (象牙), and we can 8           this from their fossil teeth.
Scientists found out about most of the extinct (绝迹) animals by studying the fossils, such as their bones
and teeth that have been found. However, mammoths are quite different.
During the Ice Age, mammoths died and were covered 9           in the ice. The ice kept them well. While
many animals only left behind bones and teeth, scientists found the whole body of the mammoth. 10
the whole mammoth has been kept well, scientists can see even the hair, the tusks and the whole body.
