Do you love holidays but hate the increase weight that follow? You are not alone.

Recently I paid a visit to Harvard university, where there are top class scientists and professors and the
best academic system in the world.
I was pretty shocked when I first stepped onto the campus. Well, it's not even really a campus. it's more
like a district in a small town.
Harvard's main buildings are from the 18th century. They look very old and simple. You might even say
they're a little shabby. They don't fit the modern idea of university at all. The buildings are surrounded by
grass and trees, so I felt as if I had walked into a medieval (中世纪的) castle. But when I looked across the
street, busy shops and in-fashion students made me feel like I was in the 21st century again. It creates a strong
contrast and brings a special atmosphere to the school.
Our tour guide Gary took us around and told us:"You see this grass field in the center of the school? Here
is where they host their graduation ceremony. They just set up tents and benches and have a very simple
ceremony," Unbelievable! Who would think the most talented students just graduate on the lawn?
I saw some students put a blanket on the grass and lie down to read a book. When I listened to the soft
sound of pages turning, along with chirping of the birds, I felt very much calm. There was no competitive
    feeling at all.
Harvard has the world's first computer in its science center and there are hundreds of high-end computers
too. Its religion and literature department are also among the best. It is the perfect mix of tradition and new
technology. It makes Harvard a very attractive place to study in.
    1. What is the article mainly about?
    [     ]
    A. The academic atmosphere in Harvard University.
    B. The life of Harvard students.
    C. The author's impression of Harvard.
    D. The author's dream
    2. When you walk in Harvard University, what do you find except that _____.
    [     ]
    A. Some students read books on the grass
    B. all building were built in the 18th century
    C. Harvard is more like a district in a small town than a campus
    D. there is a grass field where the graduation ceremony is held
    3. Which field are among the best in the world?
    A. Literature, religion and architecture
    B. Religion, computer and architecture
    C. Literature, religion and computer

When I first heard that Zhang Yimou, China's leading director most well-known for Hero in the West,
a question immediately came into my mind: Would A Simple Noodle Story be directed by the good Zhang
Yimou or the bad Zhang Yimou? The answer:neither.
Starting with his first time as a cinema-photographer on Yellow Earth right after graduating from film
school in the early 80s, everything Zhang shot was inspiring. In the late 80s and early 90s, he directed
several movies already considered classics, including the banned (禁止) To Live.
A Simple Noodle Story is set in the late Ming Dynasty (1368~1644), follows several amusing characters
working in a restaurant in the faraway, but naturally beautiful, western province of Gansu. Zhang brought
together a group of popular comedic (喜剧的) actors led by Xiao Shenyang, who shot to fame earlier last
year because of his very funny styles. Xiao Shenyang's character, Li Si, is having an affair with his boss's
wife, who is simply called "Boss' Wife" throughout the movie.
A Simple Noodle Story, which started national screening Friday, is already bringing in money, scoring
a total box office income of 67.1 million yuan? ($9.83 million) by Sunday morning and is expecting its first
weekend to reach 100 million yuan ($14.65 million).
In spite of the box office success, the film has received mixed reviews. Most local media admitted Zhang's
success in entertaining the public, but writer Han Han wrote in his blog that A Simple Noodle Story is more
like a long-drawn-out TV comedy and that Zhang has made no improvement in directing since his first film.
In his defense, Zhang said that he was just trying to have fun with the film. "I'm not a master of artistic
films. I am just trying to make a fun movie."

Many people believe they are supposed to drink eight glasses of water a day, or about two liters (升).
Why? Because that is the amount of water they have been told all their life. But a recent report offers some
different advice. Experts suggest people should obey their bodies: they should drink as much water as they
feel like drinking. The report says most healthy people meet their daily needs for liquid by letting thirst be
    their guide.
The report is from the Institute of Medicine, which provides scientific and technical advice to the
government and the public. The report contains some general suggestions. It says women should get about
2.7 liters of water daily and men about 3.7 liters. But wait-in each case, that is more than eight glasses.
There is one important difference. The report does not tell people how many glasses of water are needed
to meet these guidelines. This is because the daily water requirement can include the water content in foods.
As you might expect, the Institute of Medicine says people need to drink more water when they are
physically active. The same is true of those who live in hot climates. Depending on heat and activity, people
could need twice as much water as others do.
