                            Canada Is Our Neighbour
Canada and the United States are neighbours. They are on
the same land.  They share the same long boundary(国界) . These

    (曲棍球) matches on Sundays.
However, there are important differences between the United
States and Canada. The United States has many more people.

When you are travelling, whether on business or for pleasure, you often need to
stay in a hotel.  The kind of hotel you choose probably is decided above all according to
how much money you want to spend. There are small hotels with very few services, where
the prices are low, or there are large hotels with all the very latest comforts, where you could
spend all the money you have in the bank for one very comfortable night.
There are several different kinds of people who go to hotels. Some want to live, rather than
just stay in a hotel.  The hotels which are designed to meet their needs are called residential hotels

Traveling can be a fun way to gain life experiences,  especially  during  Spring
Break-a week-long school vacation in the United States. But what if you're a student
and don't have enough money for a trip? Don't worry. Here are some useful suggestions.
●Save: This probably is the most important preparation for traveling. Cut expenses to
fatten your wallet so you'll have more choices about where to go and how to get there.
●Plan ahead: Don't wait until the last minute to plan your trip. Tickets may cost more
when bought on short notice. Giving yourself several months to get ready can mean security
    (安全) and savings.
●Do your homework: No matter where you go, research the places you will visit. Decide
what to see. Travel books will provide information on the cheapest hotels and restaurants.
●Plan sensibly: Write down how much you expect to spend for food and hotels.  Stick to
(坚持) your plan or you may not have enough money to cover everything.
●Travel in groups: Find someone who is interested in visiting the same places.  By traveling
with others you can share costs and experiences.
●Work as you go: Need more money to support your trip? Look for work in the places you visit.
●Go off the beaten path: Tourist cites may be expensive. You may want to rethink your trip and
go to a less-known area. Smaller towns can have many interesting activities and sights.
●Pack necessary things: The most important things to take are not always clothes. Remember
medicine in case you get sick and snacks in case you cannot find a cheap restaurant.
●Use the Intemet: The net can help to save money. Some useful websites include www.
Travelcity. com, www. bargains- lowest fare(票价 ) . com  and www. economic  travelcity. com.
●By planning sensibly, even students can enjoy the travel. Your travel experiences will be
    remembered for a lifetime.

One summer my friend and I decided to go to Italy for a
holiday and we decided to travel there without going through a
travel agency.  You know, you would be submerged (淹没) in
crowds of tourists and lose lots of opportunities to get familiar with
the country more closely. We started to think over our trip and
managed to come up with a free tour of Italy.
The trip was not very long but it was still very impressive (印
象深刻的).  We look forward to going there again !  Of course, we
spent lots of time arranging (安排) the trip, but it was well worth
it !  Of course I was afraid that something would go wrong and I was
especially anxious about my visa, but everything went quite
    smoothly in the end.
The most difficult part was getting a visa (签证)  without an
invitation.  In the Italian consulate (领事馆) , one must hand in
some official paper proving that one has a hotel booked for oneself
in order to get the visa. Then we had to solve the ticket problem.
Airlines often sell cheap tickets and we bought ours far in
advance. The next step was to book a hotel. We finally booked a
hotel about 30km away from the heart of Rome and it was the
    perfect choice for our trip.
Every day we took a train that carried us to the heart of
Rome. Our big house, which was surrounded by the forest, was a
rare place for the fresh air and absolute silence, beautiful views,
hospitable hosts, comfortable living conditions delighting us to no
end. Besides this, we were very lucky that our mistress was a
Russian. She gave us a lot of advice that was of great use. She
told us what transport to choose and where the best places to go.
Don't be afraid to arrange your trip by yourself. It's not
difficult ! The only thing I'll say right now is that we really enjoyed
traveling by ourselves. We walked with a map and a guide-book to
wherever we wanted and we even met some of our fellow
countrymen on the way just two or three times. So, if you're also
planning a "single" trip, don't forget to take a Russian-Italian
phrasebook as people in Italy prefer to speak in their native
    tongue.

Some people are especially gifted in their social skills. These
people are very fortunate. There are also people who have problems
with speaking and even listening. These poor social skills may
lead people to become loners(不合群的人) who are always left
    out of discussions.
Ways of improving social skills can depend on your way of
interacting(交流)  with other people.  ______ to improve social
    skills.
    1. Try helping yourself first before asking others for help.  You can
practice your social skills through daily situations such as going
to work, shopping, talking with friends, chatting with family
members, and discussing work with colleagues(同事).
    2. You can learn a lot by having a conversation with yourself in
front of a mirror because you can study your own reactions and
find out what you need to change.
    3. You  should  also  be  aware  that  nonverbal (非语言的 )
communication is usually more important than what you are
        saying.
    4. Receiving information is also important. Getting the right
message is proof of how well you can communicate.  The fact
that you always try to listen but somehow never really
understand what is being said is a sign of weak social skills.
Try to be a better listener so that you receive information
         easily.
Learning these skills will increase your chances of having
more successful social interactions. You will establish social
competence(能力) ,  confidence,  and positive communication
    skills.
A world without interaction is not healthy. Improving
people's social skills is very important for us and for our
    society.
